Privacy Policy

What we collect

ChatHandoff does not operate a backend that receives your chats.

When you use the extension, it may temporarily process:

• Conversation text already visible on chatgpt.com, claude.ai, or gemini.google.com (only after you start Transfer, Copy, Export, or Alt+H)
• Settings you choose (smart prune on/off, show on-page bar, handoff persona), stored in your browser via chrome.storage.local
• A short-lived pending transfer payload used to open the other site and attempt paste
• If you buy Pro: a license key you paste into the extension (cached locally to check Pro status)

How data is used

• Build a local handoff payload so another model (or a same-model new chat) can continue
• Optionally copy that payload to the clipboard
• Optionally insert it into the target site’s composer
• Remember your preferences on this browser profile
• Validate a Pro license key so Pro features can unlock when they ship

Payments (Pro)

Optional Pro subscriptions are processed by Polar (checkout, tax, invoices, customer portal, and license-key validation). ChatHandoff does not store your card details. Buying Pro does not change how chat handoffs work: conversation text still stays on your device and is not uploaded to ChatHandoff servers.

What we do not do

• We do not upload chats to ChatHandoff servers
• We do not sell or share chat content
• We do not track browsing outside the supported chat sites for analytics
• We do not use all_urls host access

Third parties

ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini remain separate services operated by their providers. ChatHandoff only interacts with those pages in your browser when you ask it to. Polar processes Pro payments and license validation under their own privacy policy.
